Police: Man fatally shot at MGM National Harbor casino food court

Authorities reported that a man was fatally shot in what they described as a deliberate attack on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the MGM National Harbor casinos food court in Prince Georges County, Maryland.

Police stated that officers responded around noon to calls about a shooting inside the casino. During a Wednesday afternoon press briefing, Prince Georges County Police Chief George Nader explained that the incident was targeted. According to Nader, the gunman pursued a man in his twenties who was ordering food.

There was no confrontation; the victim was simply ordering food when the suspect approached and opened fire immediately, Nader said. We know the suspect had been in the parking area for several minutes before entering the food court.

Law enforcement officials are currently looking for a man captured on surveillance video fleeing the scene, believed to be responsible for the shooting. Police have not released a physical description of the suspect.

Local reports noted that some nearby schools were briefly placed on lockdown as a safety precaution, though authorities confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
