Prince Harry's stalker came within yards despite Royal Protection efforts

After stepping back from royal responsibilities in 2020, Prince Harry saw his security protection reduced, as he was no longer considered a full-time working royal. When he and Meghan Markle relocated to the United States, visits to the United Kingdom came with a lower level of security, originally decided in the year they left but potentially subject to review on individual occasions.

This year, Harry sought legal intervention to challenge the existing security arrangements, expressing concerns for the safety of himself and his family while in the UK. His legal team argued that he had been treated unfairly compared to other royals, claiming his protection had been downgraded to inferior standards.

However, the court did not side with him. The senior judge stated that there was no legal foundation for an appeal and that Harrys personal sense of grievance over the reduced security did not justify reinstating higher protection. As a result, Harry and his family were not granted enhanced safety measures.

Shortly after the ruling, Harry experienced a frightening encounter with an alleged stalker, which some believe might have been prevented with stronger security. During his September visit to the UK for the WellChild Awards, a woman managed to breach a secure area of Londons Royal Lancaster Hotel while Harry was present. She was found in a hotel bathroom, muttering about the prince, and was removed from the premises.

Two days later, the same woman came dangerously close to Harry again, this time at the Centre for Blast Injury Studies at Imperial College in West London. Unable to locate him in public, she has also sent letters to Harry, Meghan, and their children.

These incidents highlight Harrys ongoing efforts to seek more robust security measures during his visits to the United Kingdom.
