Putin's representative criticizes Merz from Germany for his stubborn stupidity

Russia has ridiculed an alleged remark by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who reportedly expressed doubts about the US diplomats involved in efforts to end the war in Ukraine. On X, Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev wrote, Dear Merz, you are not even in the game. You disqualified yourself with warmongering, obstructing peace, unrealistic demands, threatening Western civilization, migration issues, and sheer stubbornness.

The statement followed a leak by Germany's Der Spiegel of a supposed transcript from a call involving top EU officials and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the report, Merz told Zelensky that the US negotiators were playing games with both European leaders and Ukraine.

A German government spokesperson emphasized that confidential talks cannot be publicly confirmed. We do not comment on individual media reports, the spokesperson said, while noting Merz's earlier remarks at a press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. There, Merz highlighted a joint call with Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and other European leaders, stressing efforts to maintain unity across the trans-Atlantic alliance.

The Kremlin holds Western nations responsible for the Ukraine conflict, initiated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in early 2022. Putin has repeatedly asserted that the West is using Ukraine to wage war against Russia. Dmitriev, educated in the United States, serves as Putin's negotiator with Washington and is known for leveraging economic strategies to influence US policy, particularly during the Trump administration.
