Testmate Health has formed a strategic partnership and investment agreement with Intermountain Health to accelerate access to rapid molecular testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) across the United States. The collaboration focuses on providing laboratory-quality diagnostics to populations most at risk.

STIs continue to be a significant public health concern, with estimates suggesting that nearly 80% of chlamydia and gonorrhea cases go undiagnosed annually.

The partnership emphasizes making cost-effective, highly accurate diagnostic solutions widely available, particularly in communities with limited access to healthcare. Karen Brownwell, Vice President of Intermountain Health Lab Services, stated, Our investment in Testmate represents a commitment to faster, more accessible, and equitable care. Once these STI tests gain FDA approval, Testmates molecular diagnostics will enable lab-level results outside traditional laboratory environments, benefiting communities historically underserved in timely testing.

Testmates single-use molecular test for Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae operates without a reader and can deliver laboratory-quality results in under 30 minutes, eliminating the need for centralized lab facilities. The tests are designed for simplicity, accepting both urine and swab samples, and offering a private and discreet testing experience.

Dr. Siew-Veena Sahi, Founder and CEO of Testmate Health, remarked, This partnership allows individuals to manage their sexual and reproductive health without obstacles, stigma, or delays. Working with Intermountain Health enables us to scale access to diagnostics, improving outcomes for patients and communities alike.

Testmate Health is dedicated to advancing affordable, high-precision molecular diagnostics for sexual and womens health. Intermountain Health, a nonprofit organization based in the US, operates a network of 34 hospitals, approximately 400 clinics, and various medical groups.

Analysis: Expanding Rapid STI Testing Across the U.S.

The strategic partnership between Testmate Health and Intermountain Health represents a significant step toward improving access to rapid molecular diagnostics for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). With nearly 80% of chlamydia and gonorrhea cases estimated to go undiagnosed annually, the collaboration addresses a critical gap in public health.

By combining Testmate’s single-use molecular tests with Intermountain Health’s extensive network of hospitals and clinics, the initiative aims to deliver laboratory-quality results in under 30 minutes, without the need for centralized facilities. This approach could particularly benefit underserved communities with limited access to traditional healthcare services.

Both organizations emphasize affordability, simplicity, and privacy in testing, offering discreet options that accept urine or swab samples. Once FDA approval is secured, these diagnostics could significantly reduce delays in detection and treatment, ultimately improving sexual and reproductive health outcomes nationwide.
