US and Ukrainian top negotiators to hold meeting in Florida following discussions with Russia, source reports

Ukraines chief negotiator is set to meet with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff in Florida on Thursday, just two days after Witkoff held high-level discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, a senior administration official said. Jared Kushner, President Donald Trumps son-in-law, is also expected to attend the session alongside Rustem Umerov, secretary of Ukraines National Security and Defense Council.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on Wednesday that preparations for further talks were ongoing, though he did not specify the exact timing.

Zelenskyy posted on social media that "meetings are being arranged in the United States. Following the American teams return from Moscow and consultations in Washington, Rustem Umerov, Andrii Hnatov, and the rest of the negotiation team will continue discussions with representatives of President Trump."

Details about the five-hour Moscow meeting between Witkoff, Kushner, and Putin were scarce, but both Washington and Moscow reported largely positive outcomes. Officials noted that additional work is required to reach an agreement acceptable to both Kyiv and Moscow.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov indicated that while some proposed terms were unacceptable to Putin, others were considered acceptable. Trump described the meeting as "reasonably good" and said Witkoff and Kushner conveyed their impression that Putin "wants the war to end."
