Emergency plea for lost defibrillator

An urgent request has been made for the recovery of a critical piece of medical equipment that has gone missing in the heart of Coventry.

The Coventry Business Improvement District (BID) is appealing to anyone who has information about the community-access defibrillator, or who can simply return it to its original cabinet.

The device was stored in a cabinet at Fargo Village and was used during an emergency on the early hours of Friday, 7 November, near National Tyres & Autocare on Gosford Street. Following its use, the defibrillator was not returned, and despite thorough investigations, its whereabouts remain unknown.

Coventry BID is responsible for safety initiatives across the city centre, including installing defibrillators and emergency bleeding control kits. Stuart Grainger, the BIDs security manager, emphasized the importance of the missing device:

"This defibrillator is essential for the safety of the community in the city centre. They are expensive to replace, and we urgently need it returned. Community defibrillators save lives, and every minute without one can mean the difference between life and death."

"After use, the public is asked to return the device to its cabinet. Unfortunately, despite extensive efforts, we have not been able to locate the unit used last month. It is crucial for it to be back in place so it can serve in future emergencies."

Anyone with knowledge of the defibrillators location is urged to contact Coventry BID via email at graham@coventrybid.co.uk, by phone at 02477 103 305, or through direct messages on Coventry City Centres Instagram or Facebook pages. Alternatively, the BID requests that the device simply be returned to its cabinet.
