ABC News and CBS News Experience Growth in Ratings Across the Board for the Week of Nov. 24

For the week of November 24, both ABC World News Tonight and CBS Evening News saw increases in total viewership as well as in the Adults 25-54 demographic. ABC World News Tonight maintained its position as the top-rated evening newscast, surpassing its nearest competitor by over 2 million viewers, marking its highest audience in nine months.

NBC Nightly News was the only major broadcast to experience a decline in total viewers during the week leading up to the Thanksgiving holiday. Despite this, NBC's evening news closed the gap with ABC in the key demo, reaching its smallest difference in six years.

Note that weekly averages differ: ABC and NBC calculations were based on Monday and Tuesday broadcasts, while CBS averages included Monday through Wednesday. Special editions aired due to Thanksgiving, including renaming broadcasts on November 26 and 28, were excluded from weekly and seasonal averages.

Individual Program Performance

ABC World News Tonight averaged 8.273 million total viewers and 1.03 million Adults 25-54. Compared to the prior week, this represents a 4% increase in both total viewers and the demo. Year-over-year, the broadcast improved by 8% in total viewers and 2% in the demo.

NBC Nightly News ranked second with 6.24 million total viewers and 918,000 Adults 25-54. While total viewership fell by 3% from the previous week, its demo grew by 6%. Compared to the same week last year, total viewers remained steady but the demo declined by 2%.
