‘Boston Blue’ and ‘Sheriff Country’ to Return for Season 2 on CBS

CBS has confirmed that both Boston Blue and Sheriff Country will return for their second seasons in 2026-2027, following a strong debut for each series. Since their premieres on October 17, both shows have dominated Friday night viewership, according to Nielsen ratings, with Boston Blue averaging 8 million viewers in live plus seven-day ratings (L+7) and Sheriff Country drawing 7.6 million, representing a 33% increase compared to last season's S.W.A.T. results.

The early renewals were anticipated given the full-season pickups each series received initially. CBS has previously employed this strategy, notably with Matlock, which also earned a second-season renewal ahead of its premiere.

Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment, said, Both shows quickly resonated with audiences, combining compelling storytelling and strong performances. These renewals highlight the creative strength on both sides of the camera.

About Boston Blue

Boston Blue is a spinoff of CBS's long-running drama Blue Bloods. The series follows Donnie Wahlbergs character, Danny Reagan, who transfers from the NYPD to the Boston Police Department. Partnered with Detective Lena Silver, portrayed by Sonequa Martin-Green, Danny navigates a professional partnership that evolves into a meaningful friendship. The show also explores Dannys relationship with his son Sean Reagan, now played by Mika Amonsen.

Returning Blue Bloods characters appear as well, including Bridget Moynahan as Erin Reagan and Marisa Ramirez as Maria Baez.
