Maurice DuBuois Departs from ‘CBS Evening News’: When Will His Final Show Be?

As CBS News continues to restructure its programming, coanchor Maurice DuBuois has announced he will be leaving the network. DuBuois shared the news on Instagram on Thursday, December 4, stating that his last appearance on the CBS Evening News will air on Thursday, December 18.

Reflecting on his career, DuBuois expressed, It has been the honor of a lifetime21 years in total, including my time at WCBS-TV in New York City. What a privilege it has been to enter your homes nightly, reporting the news, meeting remarkable individuals, and sharing their stories. I leave with deep gratitude, meaningful connections, and treasured memories.

He also reminded viewers that he will continue to appear on the program for the next two weeks: A couple of weeks to go; until then, catch me on The CBS Evening News every night at 6:30 p.m.

DuBuois joined WCBS-TV in New York in 2001. In January 2025, he and John Dickerson became coanchors of CBS Evening News, succeeding Norah ODonnell, who had departed six months prior. Dickerson also announced in October that he will be leaving the show in December, aligning his exit with DuBuois.

CBS News has not yet named successors for its evening news anchors. The changes coincide with a decline in the programs ratings. Since Bari Weiss became Editor-in-Chief in October, the network has reportedly contacted several top journalists about potential anchor roles, but none have been secured due to existing contracts elsewhere.

DuBuois has not disclosed his next professional move. After leaving WCBS-TV to anchor the CBS Evening News earlier this year, it remains uncertain whether he will return to the New York station.

The CBS Evening News airs weeknights at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time on CBS.
