Parents are urged to check their playrooms as a popular magnetic toy is being removed from shelves.

Another toy recall is making the news, and this time it involves a magnetic building cube set. While these notices can feel overwhelming, addressing this one is straightforward and urgent for families with young children.

CreateOn has recalled several Crayola pip Cubes sets after the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) discovered that the seams on the cubes may weaken. This flaw could allow the small, strong magnets inside to come loose. Unlike ordinary magnets, these high-powered magnets can attach to each other inside a childs digestive tract, potentially causing blockages, twisting, or perforations.

The CPSC strongly advises that anyone who owns one of these sets stop using them immediately. So far, no injuries have been reported.

Recalled Products

The recall affects the following Crayola pip Cubes sets:

  • 24-piece Bold Colors set
  • 27-piece Bold Colors set
  • 24-piece Glitter Colors set
  • 27-piece Glitter Colors set

Each cube is marked with "Crayola" on the surface. Bold sets include red, blue, yellow, and green cubes, while Glitter sets feature purple, pink, green, and blue glitter cubes. These products were sold from May to July 2025. Pricing ranged from about $20 at Michaels for 24-piece sets to approximately $35 on Amazon for 27-piece sets.

If you still have the packaging, check for the following model or UPC numbers:

  • Bold Colors 24-piece: Model 1000199 / UPC 850067300199
  • Bold Colors 27-piece: Model 1000243 / UPC 850067300205
  • Glitter Colors 24-piece: Model 1000205 / UPC 850067300205
  • Glitter Colors 27-piece: Model 1000250 / UPC 850067300250

Why Magnetic Toy Recalls Occur

Magnet-related recalls can be alarming, especially when the toys come from trusted brands. High-powered magnets follow strict safety guidelines because if swallowed, they can attract through tissue layers, creating serious internal injuries. Even minor manufacturing defects, like a weakened seam, can turn a popular toy into a hazard. These issues are usually discovered only after the product has reached homes.

Safety Tips for Magnetic Toys

  • Regularly inspect toys for cracks, loose seams, or missing pieces
  • Remove any magnetic toy showing separation immediately
  • Search for missing magnets before allowing children to continue playing
  • If ingestion is suspected, contact a doctor immediately
  • Watch for symptoms such as stomach pain, vomiting, or fever

A Note for Parents

Feeling stressed about recalls is normal, but responding to them is a responsible act, not a failure. Taking prompt action ensures childrens safety and is part of the often invisible work of parenting. Staying informed and proactive protects your family without unnecessary worry.
