Spotify Wrapped makes a comeback in 2025 with 'largest' release ever: Discover your top artists and songs of the year

Spotify has unveiled its 2025 Wrapped, marking the platforms largest rollout to date, with 200 million users interacting and 500 million shares within the first 24 hours. The annual feature provides each listener with personalized statistics, highlighting their most-streamed songs and favorite artists of the year.

Many users treat Spotify Wrapped as a holiday ritual, eagerly sharing their music highlights across social media. In comparison, the 2024 edition took 62 hours to reach the 200 million milestone and received criticism for leaning heavily on artificial intelligence, which left some users disappointed with the lack of detailed statistics such as top albums or genres.

On Wednesday, Spotify app users found a new Wrapped tab at the top of their home screens. This years feature brings back the stats missing in 2024, including total listening minutes, top songs, albums, genres, and a listening age, which approximates the era of the music a user engaged with most.

Spotify also announced the top global picks for 2025:

  • Song: Die With a Smile by Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars (1.7 billion streams)
  • Artist, Album, Podcast, and Audiobook: [Details revealed by Spotify]

Since its 2016 debut, Wrapped has evolved from a simple playlist of top-played songs into a social sharing phenomenon. By 2019, Spotify added shareable graphics for Instagram stories, turning the feature into a powerful marketing tool while originally designed to reward user loyalty.

Spotifys 2024 Wrapped relied heavily on AI, including AI-generated podcast hosts and a music evolution feature. The latter drew criticism for whimsical labels like Pink Pilates Princess Strut Pop, which many felt misrepresented their listening habits.

Anticipation for 2025 Wrapped ran high, with fans urging Spotify on social media to deliver accurate stats instead of AI-generated content. Comments reflected frustration from last years release, with users demanding a proper reflection of their real listening trends.
