Trump's late-night Truth Social posting frenzy was inundated with foreign users pretending to be MAGA influencers

President Donald Trumps recent late-night activity on Truth Social, where he made over 150 posts in just a few hours, was largely composed of reshared content from users outside the United States presenting themselves as MAGA enthusiasts and endorsing Trump-aligned Republicans.

On Monday evening, Trump shared at least 150 posts on his platform, with the majority being reposts from X users praising his leadership and policies. This flurry of activity occurred within roughly four hours, averaging a post every two minutes. The following day, Trump appeared briefly drowsy during a cabinet meeting, marking another instance of public sleepiness, though this has not deterred his frequent late-night posting.

Many of the reshared posts came from accounts claiming strong support for Trump. For instance, an X user named Caroline referred to Trump as the greatest president to ever live, while Victoria Byrne commended him for his mass deportation policies using his signature phrase, promises made, promises kept.

Closer examination revealed that these accounts, along with several others, were based outside the United States, suggesting the possibility of bot or troll activity. Carolines account, for example, is registered in South Asia, yet her posts are full of pro-Trump messages, including expressing excitement to vote for Vice President JD Vance. Similarly, Victoria Byrnes account is located in West Asia but presents itself as a #trump2024 conservative.

Other accounts reshared by Trump followed the same pattern. Sebastian, who criticized the U.S. judicial system while praising Trump, is based in South Asia. Gabriel, who highlighted a TikToker criticizing the Democratic Party, also operates from South Asia and has changed his username at least 17 times. Sami Nathaniel, another South Asia-based user, had their posts praising Republican Senator John Kennedy reshared by Trump.

Trump frequently reposts content from X users who compliment his policies, but many of these accounts are foreign, raising questions about the authenticity of the interactions on Truth Social. The X platform has introduced an About this Account feature that shows users locations, account age, username changes, and app download region, providing insight into the origin of these accounts.

Since being banned from Twitter (now X) in January 2021 for inciting the Capitol riot, Trump has relied on Truth Social to communicate directly with supporters and make announcements. Unlike more established platforms, Truth Social is almost entirely centered on Trump, which results in less scrutiny and lower content quality.
