A24 has dropped the trailer for its haunting new musical drama, "Mother Mary", featuring Anne Hathaway, known for "The Devil Wears Prada" and "The Idea of You", alongside Michaela Coel of "I May Destroy You" and "Chewing Gum" fame.

In this story, Hathaway portrays a fictional pop icon, Mother Mary, who reunites with her estranged best friend and former costume designer, Sam Anselm (Coel). Despite lingering tensions, Mother Mary enlists Sam to design a flawless ensemble for her highly anticipated comeback performance. Yet, the trailer hints at darker undertones, suggesting supernatural or possibly sinister influences at play.

We have a connection and I can't explain it, Hathaways character remarks in the preview, hinting at a mysterious bond that drives the narrative.

David Lowery, director of "The Green Knight", leads the project, with supporting performances by Hunter Schafer and Alba Baptista. The film's soundtrack will feature music by Charli XCX, adding a contemporary edge to the eerie atmosphere.

"Mother Mary" is scheduled for release in April 2026 and is one of four major projects featuring Hathaway next year, alongside "The Devil Wears Prada 2" (May 1), "The Odyssey" (July 17), and "Verity" (October 2).
