‘Avengers: Endgame’ to be Re-Released in Theaters Before ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Marvel Studios and Disney are bringing Avengers: Endgame back to theaters on September 25, 2026, in anticipation of the upcoming release of the Russo Brothers Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for December 18, 2026. The original film, which earned $2.799 billion globally, concluded Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, focusing on Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, wreaking havoc across the cosmos and the ensemble of Marvel heroes uniting to stop him.

Directed by the Russo Brothers, Endgame also wrapped up several key character arcs from the previous MCU installments. Notably, in a surprising multiverse twist, Robert Downey Jr., famous for portraying Tony Stark/Iron Man, will take on the role of Dr. Doom in Doomsday. Alongside familiar MCU heroes, the new film will feature characters from upcoming projects including Thunderbolts, Fantastic Four: First Steps, and X-Men.

Avengers: Endgame ranks as the second-highest-grossing film worldwide, with an international haul of $1.94 billion, second only to Avatar, which has made $2.924 billion. Additionally, Endgame still holds the record for the largest global opening weekend, raking in $1.2 billion.

Disney has also made adjustments to its theatrical schedule. The 50th anniversary release of Star Wars: A New Hope has been moved from April 30, 2027 to February 19, 2027, while the untitled Simpsons animated movie shifts from July 23, 2027 to September 3, 2027, coinciding with Labor Day weekend. Notably, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings holds the record for the highest-grossing Labor Day opening with $94.6 million.
