Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Cast Joins Cox in Motion Capture Recognition, Revealing Their Hidden Talents

Following Charlie Coxs recent praise for motion capture work after his Game Awards nomination, the rest of the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 cast has also voiced their support for their co-stars in the mocap field.

Last month, Cox drew attention when he credited motion-capture actor Maxence Cazorla for the performance of Gustave in Expedition 33. Cox emphasized that his Game Awards nomination for Best Performance was largely due to Cazorlas efforts, stating, Any nomination or any credit I get, I really have to give to him. Since June 2025, Cox has consistently highlighted Cazorlas skill, often praising the actor whenever he received recognition for his own role.

Cazorla responded on X with a heartfelt message thanking Cox, writing, Bringing Gustave to life was a team effort, and Im honoured to have played my part in it. The exchange has underscored the collaborative nature of performance capture in video games.

Now, the broader cast of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, including Jennifer English, Shayla Nyx, Devora Wilde, and Aliona Baranova, have joined the conversation in an interview with VGC, stressing how motion-capture performers often go unrecognized. They collectively called for The Game Awards to introduce a dedicated motion-capture category.

Aliona Baranova, who previously directed motion capture for Baldurs Gate 3, remarked, The audience doesnt know enough about this because theres not enough attention on it. If we had an award category for mocap specifically, then studios would be encouraged to release that behind-the-scenes footage because people are desperate for it. Studios keep that a bit quiet because it gives away details on how they made the game.

While there is growing support for a motion capture category at The Game Awards, it is still unclear whether it will be introduced in future ceremonies. The next Game Awards event is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, at 8:00 p.m. EST, and will be streamed on the official Game Awards YouTube channel.
