Laidback Luke is experiencing a creative revival. From his recent remix of a James Brown classic to numerous collaborations with artists like Daft Punk, Madonna, and Lil Jon, Luke is shaping a fresh wave in the dance music scene. Im currently exploring blog house, he shares. I stumbled upon an old hard drive from 20072008 when I felt uninspired, and it reignited the excitement and nostalgia I had back thenjust before dance music truly hit America. Back then my attitude was, Ill just follow my own path.
When asked about his preferred genre, he responds, I dont limit myself. Now I blend current hits with older tracks because they resonate so well on the dance floor. For many ravers, this combination is entirely new. I hope to foster a stronger sense of community and have my music become a central part of it.
Regarding his international CODE/RED Tour, Luke explains, I want to make an impact across the globe, signaling that something exciting is happening. Essentially, were taking over.
He also speaks about his collaborations: Linney gained recognition with Layton Giordanis Act of God, and Li is like musical family. I asked if she had any vocals for me, and she shared the Gasoline acapella. I created the instrumental, it fit perfectly, and now she joins me on tour.
Discussing the James Brown project, Luke recounts, Jason Brown, Jamess grandson, sent me a studio recording of James Brown. You can hear the other musicians, his breathing, even a cough. I thought, Am I really allowed to work with this? Ive remixed legends like Donna Summer, Madonna, and Daft Punk, but this required a fresh mindset. James was a stage rebel, full of energy to make people move, and I wanted to channel that into my versiona modern take on Super Bad.
