Critics Choice Awards 2026 Film Nominees Announced in Real Time

Films such as One Battle After Another, Hamnet, Sentimental Value, and Sinners are widely expected to receive multiple nominations when the Critics Choice Awards nominees are revealed this Friday. Alongside film announcements, the television nominees will also be disclosed.

If Paul Thomas Andersons One Battle After Another performs strongly, it would cap off a notable week for the film following its recognition at the Gotham Awards, the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, the National Board of Review, and the AFI Awards. Meanwhile, Sentimental Value and Sinners have also been acknowledged by these organizations, and Hamnet earned particular attention from AFI.

Back in November, Sinners led the Critics Choice Awards below-the-line shortlists with 13 nominations across 11 categories. F1, Frankenstein, and Wicked: For Good followed closely, receiving recognition in nine categories each. Earlier in the month, The Perfect Neighbor was named the best nonfiction film of 2025 at the Critics Choice Documentary Awards. The Netflix release, detailing a white woman in Florida who shot her Black neighbor, secured five awards, including best director for Geeta Gandbhir.

Historically, roughly 75% of Critics Choice nominees go on to receive Academy Award nominations, though its predictive value for the Oscars is somewhat limited due to the practice of including at least six nominees in most categories.

The 31st Critics Choice Awards ceremony is scheduled to air live on E! and the USA Network on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 7 p.m. ET. Chelsea Handler will return as host for the fourth consecutive year. The nominees list will be updated in real time as it is announced.
