Diddy's Mom Faces Bold Claim from Childhood Friend

The Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning sheds light on the difficulties Sean Diddy Combs faced during his early years. The four-part series features footage of Diddys mother, Janice Combs, and includes claims from his childhood friend and neighbor, Tim Patterson, who alleges that Janice physically abused Diddy over an extended period.

It wasnt a joke, Patterson stated. Thinking about it makes me feel awful.

The series includes archival footage from 2010, showing Janice discussing her approach to raising Diddy during his appearance on Inside the Actors Studio. She mentioned using a lot of beatings to toughen him up.

Patterson also suggested that Diddys later lifestylecharacterized by constant parties and controversial behaviorwas influenced by his upbringing. In Seans home, things mirrored what you might see in films, Patterson said.

The alleged abuse was not confined to Janice alone. Another former friend, Kirk Burrowes, claimed that Diddy once struck his mother in 1991, following a tragic celebrity basketball event at Harlems City College of New York, which resulted in nine fatalities. At that time, Diddy was just starting his career. Burrowes recounted, He didnt know what would happen next. I saw Janice question him about entering the music industry after such a tragedy. Sean responded violently, slapping her and calling her names.

A representative for Diddy condemned the docuseries as a shameful hit piece, stating that Netflix had misused footage Diddy had been collecting since he was 19 to tell his own story.

Director Alexandria Stapleton, however, confirmed that the footage was legally obtained. Currently, Diddy is serving a 50-month prison sentence after being convicted on two charges related to transportation to engage in prostitution.

Is Diddys behavior shaped by his upbringing? The docuseries leaves that question open for viewers to consider.
