Downstait Found Unusual Inspiration for Isla Dawn's Theme

American rock group Downstait, well-known for crafting entrance music for wrestling stars such as Cody Rhodes, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, Zack Ryder, and AEW's Britt Baker, recently unveiled their latest project: the entrance theme for Isla Dawn. In a discussion on the Ropes N Riffs Podcast, lead singer Justin Call shared insights into how the track was created.

"We initially anticipated creating something darker, which was our usual approach," Call explained. "But during our first talks, she mentioned loving I believe it was radio Disney pop rock?" Dawn then provided a few musical examples to illustrate the style she had in mind.

Reflecting on the process, Call said, "It was surprising, not at all what I expected, but it was exciting to be challenged and try something new." He added that Dawn kept her ideas somewhat private, so the band mainly worked from her musical references rather than detailed character guidance, noting that the song does still connect with her wrestling persona.

Since leaving WWE, Dawn has primarily competed on the independent wrestling circuit. She made her AEW debut on an AEW Collision episode in August 2025 but has not officially signed with any promotion yet.
