Netflix has shared the official trailer for its upcoming adaptation of Emily Henrys bestselling novel, People We Meet on Vacation. The trailer, released Tuesday, features Emily Bader as the adventurous Poppy and Tom Blyth as the structured Alex, two lifelong friends who spend every summer together. Despite their contrasting personalities, their relationship faces new challenges as they wonder if they might be more than friends.

Throughout the trailer, Bader and Blyth are shown exploring various destinations around the world. At one moment, they nearly share a kiss, with Alex asking, What am I to you? and Poppy responding emotionally, Youre my friend. My best friend. Later, the trailer shows them dating others, with Alex remarking that Poppy lives in a fantasy land, always running to new places, new connections. The preview concludes with a rain-soaked scene, capturing a quintessential rom-com moment.

The film is directed by Brett Haley, with a screenplay by Yulin Kuang, Amos Vernon, and Nunzio Randazzo. The original novel, published in 2021 by Berkley (Penguin Random House), debuted at No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list and has sold over two million copies in the U.S. The story portrays a slow-burning friends-to-lovers romance intertwined with exciting travel experiences.

Netflix released the first teaser in September. The film is produced by Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, and Isaac Klausner, with Laura Quicksilver, Ted Gidlow, and Emily Henry serving as executive producers. 3000 Pictures handled production. Additional cast members include Sarah Catherine Hook, Lucien Laviscount, Miles Heizer, Jameela Jamil, Tommy Do, Lukas Gage, Alice Lee, Molly Shannon, and Alan Ruck.

People We Meet on Vacation is part of a larger adaptation effort for Henrys novels. Three other booksBeach Read, Book Lovers, and Funny Storyare being developed as films, while Happy Place is slated for a Netflix series. The film is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on January 9.
