Excitement for Ready Or Not 2 is high, but first trailer raises concerns

The 2019 horror-comedy Ready or Not quickly became a fan favorite, propelling Samara Weaving into the spotlight as one of the most memorable final girls in recent cinema. The announcement of a sequel, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, reuniting Weaving with directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, has fans buzzing with excitement.

However, the first official trailer has sparked some concern. On initial viewing, Ready or Not 2 seems to closely mirror the original film. Once again, Weavings character, Grace, is thrust into a deadly game where she must evade wealthy hunters playing for sport. The sequel introduces a twist with the addition of Graces sister, played by Kathryn Newton, yet the overall setup feels strikingly familiar.

Despite these concerns, anticipation remains high. Pairing Weaving with Newton is promising, and the cast boasts several notable names. Sarah Michelle Gellar takes on one of the villainous wealthy characters, Elijah Wood joins as another antagonist, and horror legend David Cronenberg also appears in a sinister role.

In the sequels storyline, Grace, having survived the Le Domas familys attack, faces a new level of the nightmarish game alongside her estranged sister Faith. Grace must protect her sister and navigate a deadly competition among four rival families vying for the High Seat of the Council, the ultimate seat of power.
