Fraser Olender from Below Deck Discloses Having a Heart Attack from Vaping

Fraser Olender, star of Below Deck, faced a frightening health crisis during this years BravoCon. On the second day of the event, he experienced chest tightness and difficulty breathing, which led to an emergency room visit that lasted the remainder of the weekend.

After the convention, Fraser returned to London to consult with medical experts. The diagnosis revealed a serious condition: he had suffered from vape-related poisoning, which nearly proved fatal.

Weeks following his hospitalization, Fraser shared his experience on Instagram, including images from his recovery and reflections on the incident. His boyfriend, Matt Rogers, remained by his side throughout the ordeal.

A few weeks ago I was rushed to the hospital due to severe chest pains and difficulty breathing. I spent a week in London hospitals with specialists trying to identify the cause and assess the damage, Fraser wrote. The conclusion was that I had vape poisoning, also known as E-cigarette or Vaping-Associated Lung Injury (EVALI). I have never felt fear or pain like that before.

Fraser explained that a chemical in his vaping device triggered a coronary artery vasospasm, limiting blood flow to his heart and causing a heart attack. His heart temporarily received insufficient oxygen during the incident.

Im grateful to be recovering now, and Im sharing this because I never imagined something like this could happen, he added.

Using his experience as a cautionary tale, Fraser is urging others to reconsider vaping. I could have died over something so completely unnecessary. Please, do yourselves a favor and quit cold turkey. We dont fully understand these products, but I can tell you one thing: this was not harmless or fun in any way, he warned.

Below Deck is available to stream on Peacock, as well as on Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
