Gwyneth Paltrow Experiences 'Loneliness' During Holidays Due to Her Husband

Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about a surprising difficulty in her married life: celebrating the holiday season with a spouse who dislikes it. The Academy Award-winning actress admitted that she often feels alone during Christmas because her husband, Brad Falchuk, is not a fan of the festive traditions she loves.

Feeling Isolated During the Holidays

Speaking on her Goop podcast, Paltrow shared that she and Falchuk approach the holidays from very different perspectives. While she dives into the season with music, decorations, and family traditions, Falchuk avoids most of it. The actress jokingly called him a Grinch, noting that his lack of excitement can make her feel somewhat solitary.

My husband is a little bit of a Grinch, so hes the opposite, she said. But I love the decorations, I love the Frank Sinatra Christmas album. I really get into the holiday spirit.

Paltrow did not hold back when describing her husbands aversions. She explained, Brad is the worst. He hates Christmas music, he hates Christmas decorations, he hates roast turkey, like, he hates the traditional dinner. When asked if he anticipates anything about the season, she added, He looks forward to it being over.

Children Keep the Holiday Spirit Alive

Despite Falchuks indifference, Paltrow noted that their children embrace the festivities. Her daughter Apple and son Moses, from her previous marriage to Chris Martin, along with Falchuks children, Isabella and Brody, help fill the home with excitement. I feel very alone in my house in my love for Christmas, although all the kids love it, so theyre on my side, she quipped.

The actress also shared that she and the children celebrate the holidays together, enjoying both Christmas and Hanukkah. We have a really fun Christmas morning. We usually take a long time to open presents, then have a long walk on the beach, and, you know, eat and stay in pajamas, Paltrow said.
