On November 26, 2025, Ian Ziering took part in the Los Angeles Mission + Hope the Missions Thanksgiving meal event. The four-hour gathering offered free meals to those experiencing homelessness near Skid Row, along with complimentary shoes, clothing, and blankets.
During the event, Ziering shared insights about his family life, particularly regarding his daughters awareness of his iconic role as Steve Sanders on Beverly Hills, 90210. While Ziering has enjoyed a diverse careerfrom surviving outlandish storms in the Sharknado series to voicing animated characters like those in Biker Mice from Marsfatherhood has become a central part of his life.
The 61-year-old actor has two daughters with his ex-wife, Erin Ludwig: Mia Loren, 14, and Penna Mae, 12. Despite his fame, Ziering admits that he hasnt earned any cool points with his children. I get no cool points. Zero, he said. Sometimes its a little embarrassing, but at the end of the day, theyre proud of me, and I feel blessed to have two beautiful, healthy girls who are my everything.
When asked if his daughters have watched Beverly Hills, 90210, Ziering explained they havent yet, as they were always a bit too young for the teen drama. I have the series saved on a hard drive, so one day well watch it. Its 396 episodes, so it will take some time, he said, referring to the FOX show he starred in throughout its 10-year run from 1990 to 2000.
Ziering emphasized the importance of leading by example, expressing his desire to teach his daughters values that will help them make wise decisions. I wish they came with an instruction manual, but they didnt. Im doing the best I can, he said. There will come a time when they are on their own, and I hope Ive guided them well enough to make choices theyll be proud of.
Joining Ziering at the Thanksgiving event were his daughters, his girlfriend Caila Dean, and her three children, as they handed out food and essentials to people in need. Ziering highlighted the significance of volunteering and showing compassion, especially in a city facing a major homelessness crisis. Its an honor to help those in need, he said. I feel fortunate, and its important to show my children the value of helping others, fostering appreciation, compassion, and a sense of community.
