New York Jake Lacy opened up about the emotional challenges of filming Peacocks limited series All Her Fault. The discomfort he experienced was not due to travel or the cast, as Lacy praised co-star and producer Sarah Snook, but stemmed from the intense storyline.
The series centers on the disappearance of a child, Milo (Duke McCloud), and the ensuing blame directed at his mother Marissa Irvine (Snook), Jenny (Dakota Fanning), and the nannies Ana and Carrie (Kartiah Vergara and Carrie Finch). As events unfold, dark family secrets involving Marissas husband, Peter (Lacy), come to light.
I was on the phone with my wife, telling her, 'You're amazing,' Lacy, 39, recalled. His own wife had to manage as a single parent for five months while he filmed in Australia. Lacy also noted the striking realism in Fannings portrayal of a frustrated mother, delivering the line, Im tired of being amazing.
Though the premise initially worried some viewers about Milos fate, the series quickly reveals he is safe, cared for by his nanny Carrie. This twist transforms the story from a tragedy into a layered thriller and mystery. However, tragedy still plays a central role, as Peter confesses to causing an accident that left his brother Brian (Daniel Monks) disabled, while his sister Lia (Abby Elliott) took the blame.
Lacy described a pivotal flashback: after a car crash kills Marissa and Peters newborn, Peter swaps their baby with Josephines child, who was in the other car. The most challenging part was reliving the emotionsthinking my wife was dead, then the baby, then another potential victim, Lacy said. His portrayal focused on Peters instinct to protect the surviving child, even as he concealed the truth.
Throughout the eight-episode series, multiple deaths occur, including Peter killing two people in a ransom attempt and shooting Josie. Ultimately, Peter meets his end at Colins funeral after Marissa uncovers his lies. Lacy described the final scene as a darkly ironic moment: Peter suffers a fatal allergic reaction to soy, realizing too late that Marissa sabotaged his EpiPen. The scene highlighted Peters refusal to confront vulnerability, even in death.
Despite the grim subject matter, Lacy enjoyed filming the finale with Snook, calling it the most dramatic thingbirth and death intertwined.
