Jason Kelce Angers Wife Kylie by Sharing Bedtime Story with Daughter Ellie

Jason Kelce revealed that a bedtime story he improvised for his daughter Elliotte Ray ended with his wife Kylie feeling frustrated after the tale frightened their four year old.

Speaking on the Dec. 3 episode of the New Heights podcast, the former NFL star explained that his daughters often request that he include one of their stuffed animals or even themselves in the stories he tells before bed. One night, while preparing to retell Pinocchio, Elliotte asked him to add her stuffed animal, Slothy, into the narrative.

Jason shared that he began the story with a twist. He told Ellie that she wished upon a star and Slothy suddenly came to life. According to him, her eyes widened and she froze while holding the toy. He continued the story, even incorporating a Jiminy Cricket figurine to complete the scene.

However, the addition did not have the effect he expected. By the end of the story, Elliotte was clearly frightened, clutching her stuffed animal tightly. Travis Kelce, listening on the podcast, laughed as Jason described the moment.

Jason added that Kylie was less amused, questioning why he had chosen to tell such a version of the story.

Despite the mishap, Jason noted that he enjoys bedtime routines with his daughters Elliotte, Wyatt Elizabeth, Bennett Llewellyn and infant Finnley. He said he likes singing to them and creating stories, though he admitted he prefers classic tales such as Dr. Seuss or the three little pigs, which he feels carry strong messages and have stood the test of time.

Jason also mentioned that these traditional stories make it easier to teach meaningful lessons, such as using The Boy Who Cried Wolf to explain the consequences of lying. When not using those well known tales, he often creates new stories inspired by them.
