Jaxson Dart Hit Triggers MNF Scuffle Between Giants and Patriots

The New York Giants may already be out of the playoff race, but they are not fading quietly, particularly as the New England Patriots set their sights on the rookie leading Big Blue. Jaxson Dart was cleared from concussion protocol ahead of the Giants Week 13 matchup in New England, enabling him to resume his role as the starting quarterback.

The Patriots wasted no time welcoming him back to action. Linebacker Christian Elliss delivered a hard sideline hit on Dart, prompting players from both teams to intervene as tensions rose. Officials separated the groups, but only Giants tight end Theo Johnson received a personal foul penalty.

The collision marked the second consecutive drive in which Dart absorbed a significant hit from a New England defender, and the second time the Giants reacted strongly from the sideline.

According to reports from ESPNs Jordan Raanan, New York had planned to reduce Darts exposure by limiting designed quarterback runs. Although the contact looked rough, Elliss hit was determined to be legal, with the linebacker striking Dart in the shoulder while the quarterback remained in bounds.

The Giants hope to help Dart adjust his instincts, encouraging him to protect himself more effectively. While progress appears slow, the encounter with Elliss offered another learning opportunity for the young signal caller.
