Kim Cattrall ties the knot with fiancé she met on BBC radio show

Kim Cattrall, best known for her iconic role as Samantha Jones in Sex and the City, has married Russell Thomas, nearly ten years after their initial meeting at a BBC radio program where he was employed. The actress shared a photo of the couple kissing on Instagram following reports that the wedding took place at Chelsea Old Town Hall in London.

The ceremony was described as intimate, attended by 12 close family members and friends, reflecting the couple's preference for a personal celebration.

Cattrall, born in Liverpool, first crossed paths with Thomas in 2016 during her guest appearance on BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour. Speaking to The Times, she said, "We've been together almost 10 years now. And we've had a blast. We've just had so much fun."

The meeting occurred when Cattrall read diary entries on the program detailing her struggles with severe insomnia, which had previously forced her to withdraw from a Royal Court play. She clarified that Thomas has been misrepresented as a sound engineer, revealing instead that he was originally an actor with a fascinating, unconventional life that she admires.

Sex and the City, which aired from 1998 to 2004, produced six seasons and two films, also starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. Cattrall earned a Golden Globe in 2003 for her performance and received additional Emmy and Golden Globe nominations throughout the shows run. While Parker, Nixon, and Davis continued with the 2021 spin-off And Just Like That, Cattrall appeared only briefly in the final episode of season two in 2023, reportedly due to a strained relationship with the series and its cast.

Outside of Sex and the City, Cattrall's work includes the BBCs BAFTA-nominated The Witness for the Prosecution (2016), the 2022 revival of Queer as Folk, the 1987 film Mannequin, and the original Police Academy (1984). Her stage performances include Sweet Bird of Youth at Londons Old Vic in 2013 and Private Lives on Broadway in 2011.
