Lucas Hedges Joins Michael Cera's 'Love Is Not The Answer' Cast

Michael Cera, known for his roles in Juno and Superbad, is making his feature film directorial debut with Love Is Not The Answer, which has recently expanded its cast. Lucas Hedges, Julia Best Warner, and Shirley Henderson are among the new additions, though their character details remain undisclosed.

The films previously announced lead actors include Pamela Anderson, Steve Coogan, and Jamie Dornan. Fred Hechinger was initially attached to the project but had to exit due to scheduling conflicts. Other cast members include Miles Cameron, Joseph Longo, Hannah Heller, Alyssa Bresnahan, and Maryann Urbano.

Produced by 2AM and Brookstreet Pictures, the film is described as an absurdist comedy blending humor and emotional depth while exploring modern loneliness and the pursuit of human connection. Michael Cera also wrote the screenplay, with producers including Julia Oh, David Hinojosa, Christine DSouza Gelb, Nick Gordon, Carter Stanton, Peter Niehoff, and Jomon Thomas. Executive producers are Trevor Matthews, Natalya Pavchinskaya, Brandon Thomas Lee, Jake Cloobeck, Betsy Niehoff, and Brendan McHugh. Additional financing comes from IPR and TPC.

International sales are managed by MK2 Films, while domestic representation is co-handled by DSouza Gelb and CAA Media Finance.

Oscar-nominated Lucas Hedges has recently appeared in films such as Sorry, Baby, Shirley, Let Them All Talk, and French Exit. Julia Best Warner, known for her role in Netflixs Ratched, and BAFTA-nominated Shirley Henderson, famous for portraying Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter series, also join the project. Hendersons credits include the Bridget Jones series, Marie Antoinette, Okja, and voice work for The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.
