"Malcolm in the Middle" Revival Releases Exciting New Teaser on Frankie Muniz's 40th Birthday

The first glimpse of the upcoming Malcolm in the Middle revival, titled Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair, was released on December 5, delighting fans and celebrating Frankie Munizs 40th birthday.

The short teaser humorously nods to a memorable moment from the original 2000 sitcom pilot, where Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) shaved her husband Hals (Bryan Cranston) extremely hairy body in the kitchen while their sons watched.

The limited four-episode revival will stream on Hulu and Hulu with Disney+ in 2026. According to the official synopsis, the story will follow Malcolm being pulled back into his familys world when Hal and Lois invite him to their 40th anniversary celebration, after years of keeping a distance from them and shielding his daughter.

The revival will feature original cast members Cranston, Muniz, Kaczmarek, Berfield, and Christopher Masterson. Erik Per Sullivan, who originally played Dewey, will not return; the role is recast with Caleb Ellsworth-Clark. Anthony Timpano joins the cast as the youngest sibling, Jamie.

Cranston shared in a podcast that he spoke with Sullivan about the revival, but Sullivan chose to focus on his studies at Harvard rather than return to acting. Muniz has described the revival as pretty shocking and promises fans will be pleased with the direction of the series. He added that filming the reboot was the best time of my entire life.

Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair is set to premiere in 2026 on Hulu and Hulu with Disney+.
