Miley Cyrus reveals first details of Maxx Morando's proposal and discusses their engagement

Miley Cyrus has shared insights into her recent engagement to musician Maxx Morando, describing the surprising and heartfelt proposal. The "Something Beautiful" singer revealed that Morando, drummer for the band Liily, proposed while they were on a trip to Japan.

"I am not easy to surprise, as I usually like to control every situation. But this time, I was completely taken aback," Cyrus told ABC News. "I had never visited Japan before, intentionally saving one place in the world to be my special spot."

Cyrus, 33, and Morando, 27, are taking the next step in their relationship after four years of dating. The timing of the engagement coincides with the release of her new song, "Dream As One," created for the upcoming film Avatar: Fire and Ash by 20th Century Studios and Lightstorm Entertainment.

"My personal life and the release of 'Avatar' feel perfectly in sync, as if both aspects are harmonizing together," she added.

She praised Morando as a supportive partner, highlighting his role in her personal growth over the past few years. "Over these four years, Ive grown immensely, and having a partner like Max by my side has made all the difference. You want to dream big, and its invaluable to have someone encouraging you every step of the way," Cyrus explained.

Showing off her engagement ring, Cyrus noted that Morando "did well" in picking it. After returning from Japan, she immediately began focusing on "Dream As One" for the Avatar: Fire and Ash soundtrack.

"Returning home, I dove right into the 'Avatar' world. While the film is grand in scale, at its core, its about relationships, love, and supporting each other which resonates deeply with my own life," she said.

"Dream As One," co-written and co-produced with Andrew Wyatt and Mark Ronson, explores themes of enduring love, reflecting Cyruss personal experiences. "It feels almost like a diary entry, which is incredible given the films magnitude," she shared. "Watching the characters journeys, I could relate, and James Cameron wanted it to feel as authentic as my personal reflections."

The song is now available for download and purchase, while Avatar: Fire and Ash will hit theaters on December 19.
