Spartacus' Raunchy Sequel Show Earns Perfect 100% RT Score

The new series Spartacus: House of Ashur has earned a flawless score on Rotten Tomatoes, surpassing the rating of its predecessor. Created by Steven S. DeKnight, this action-packed sequel continues the story from the original Spartacus series that aired on Starz from January 2010 to April 2013.

The narrative centers on Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay), a key figure from the original series who was killed by Naevia in Spartacus: Vengeance. In this alternate timeline, Ashur survives and gains control of the ludus previously owned by Batiatus after aiding the Romans in quelling the slave revolt.

Critical Acclaim

Spartacus: House of Ashur currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, outshining the original series 64%. On Metacritic, the show has a score of 83, signaling universal acclaim.

Kaiya Shunyata of RogerEbert.com praised the series, noting that it offers a rare example of a spin-off that honors the original while occasionally rivaling it. Variety described the show as a thrilling sequel and a dynamic follow-up, highlighting its depiction of power struggles in ancient Rome as as compelling as ever.

Diedre Johnson from The Wrap noted that while Nick E. Tarabay leads the series, Tenika Davis as Achillia and Claudia Black as Cossutia often steal the spotlight. Johnson particularly appreciated Achillias depth, calling her a welcome addition due to her physical and emotional scars.
