Tammie Rosen, Communications Chief for Sundance and Tribeca, Passes Away at 49 After Battling Cancer

Tammie Rosen, a prominent figure in the independent film scene and most recently the chief communications officer at the Sundance Institute, has died following a courageous fight with cancer. She was 49 years old.

Tammie was an extraordinary leader whose integrity, empathy, and dedication to our mission left a lasting mark, said Ebs Burnough, Chair of the Sundance Institute Board. Through her guidance, Sundances story was shared with authenticity and heart, reflecting her own passion for the power and joy of storytelling.

Rosen was widely recognized for her tireless support of indie filmmakers, working relentlessly to promote their projects and the festivals that helped launch their careers. Known for her sharp wit, deep industry knowledge, and warm personality, she made a significant impact on everyone she encountered.

Before her tenure at Sundance, Rosen served as Executive Vice President of Communications and Programming at the Tribeca Film Festival from 2007 to 2019, having first become involved with the festival in 2004 while working with Tribecas external PR firm, Rubenstein.

Tribeca co-founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal remembered her fondly: Tammies passion, dedication, and generosity were inspiring. She helped Tribeca expand globally to cities like Rome, Beijing, and Doha, while also fostering innovation in arts, music, and sports. Her humor, leadership, ethics, and friendship were unmatched. She will be deeply missed.

Tammie Rosen is survived by her mother, Sheryle, her sister Stefani, her brother Brian, and a large circle of family and friends who will continue to honor her memory.
