Video captures ICE agents surrounding a family member of Karoline Leavitt

A video circulating online captures the shocking moment a Brazilian woman, whose son is the nephew of White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, is abruptly stopped and taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Massachusetts.

The footage, obtained by TMZ, shows Bruna Caroline Ferreira being apprehended outside her home in Revere, Massachusetts, around 12:30 pm on November 12. Her attorney described the arrest as unconstitutional depravity.

In the video, Ferreira is seen driving when five unmarked vehicles block her path. ICE agents then approach her car, demand she exit, handcuff her, and place her into an agency SUV.

The Department of Homeland Security reported that Ferreira initially entered the U.S. on a B2 tourist visa that required her departure by June 6, 1999. ICE has labeled her a "criminal illegal alien from Brazil," citing alleged prior battery charges. She is currently detained at the South Louisiana ICE Processing Center pending deportation.

TMZ reports that Ferreiras son, who is Leavitts nephew, resides in New Hampshire with his father, Michael Leavitt. The White House press secretary reportedly has had no contact with Ferreira in recent years.

Ferreiras attorneys, Todd Pomerleau and Jeffrey Rubin, criticized the arrest. Pomerleau called it targeted, unconstitutional depravity, highlighting that Ferreira is a single mother and business owner who had been awaiting her green card. Rubin noted that Ferreira was a participant in the DACA program and condemned the governments actions as cruel and inhumane, particularly given her connection to the White House.

Ferreira, 33, mother of Leavitts nephew, was brought to the U.S. at age six. She previously had a relationship with Michael Leavitt, with whom she shares a child. Pomerleau emphasized that there was no animosity between Ferreira and the Leavitt family, and that she was on her way to pick up her son from school at the time of her arrest.

Michael Leavitt stated that his primary concern is the well-being and privacy of his son, emphasizing that his focus remains solely on his child.
