M5 reopens following 'serious collision' near Bristol

The M5 motorway was temporarily closed in both directions following a major accident in the early morning hours, according to police reports. The closure occurred at 02:00 GMT, affecting the stretch between Junction 20 near Clevedon and Junction 21 close to Weston-super-Mare, Avon and Somerset Police confirmed.

National Highways has stated that all recovery operations have now been completed, and traffic is flowing again in both directions.

In another incident, the M48 Severn Bridge, which had been closed earlier due to strong winds, has reopened. The Met Office noted wind gusts reaching up to 45 mph (72 km/h) in the area.
