US vape products recalled due to possible contamination: Urgent advice to seek medical help

Health officials have announced a recall of cannabis vape cartridges sold in New England due to dangerously high pesticide contamination.

According to reports, 21 smoke shops in the region sold products that tested positive for unsafe levels of chlorfenapyr, a toxic pesticide. The cartridges were manufactured by NorCo Outdoor Cannabis and marketed under the strain name "Watermelon Chimera." The recall follows a customer complaint after an adverse health reaction.

The affected vapes were available in Maine from July 10 to October 16, 2025. Ingesting chlorfenapyr can lead to serious health issues including nausea, vomiting, high fever, excessive sweating, and changes in mental status. Authorities urge anyone who has used these products and experiences symptoms to contact a healthcare provider immediately or call 911 in emergencies.

Vaping, even with standard products, carries health risks due to exposure to harmful chemicals that can damage the lungs and other organs.
