Trump Defends Describing Tim Walz With Controversial Term

President Donald Trump remains steadfast after calling Minnesota Governor Tim Walz a derogatory term during the Thanksgiving holiday. On Thursday, Trump posted a lengthy message on his Truth Social account labeling the 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee with an offensive slur, while also criticizing Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and former President Joe Biden.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One late Sunday, Trump confirmed he fully stands by his comments. About Walz, he said, I think theres something wrong with him. He elaborated, Anyone who would do what he did, anyone who would allow those people into his state and pay billions of dollars out to Somalia we give billions of dollars to Somalia. Its not even a functioning country. It has a name, but it doesnt act like a country. You have a problem with it?

He continued, Yeah, theres something wrong with Walz.

Trump's statements about migrants, including those from Somalia referenced in his post, come shortly after the shooting of two young National Guard members in Washington, D.C. The suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, reportedly arrived in the U.S. in 2021 under the Biden administrations Operation Allies Welcome and was granted asylum during Trumps presidency.

Despite facing backlash, Trump has maintained a pattern of making provocative holiday statements aimed at his political opponents. Last Thanksgiving, he criticized Radical Left Lunatics who have worked so hard to destroy our Country and celebrated his supposed landslide victory over former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. Similar remarks were made on Fathers Day, targeting what he called radical left degenerates.

Governor Walz, however, appeared unfazed by Trumps insult. Shortly after the Truth Social post, he responded on X with a pointed reference to Trumps health, writing Release the MRI results. During an appearance on NBCs Meet the Press, Walz expressed concern about Trumps mental state, saying, Here we were on Thanksgiving enjoying family time, playing games, cheering for football, and this guy is apparently in a room ranting about everything else. This is not normal behavior. Its not healthy.
