"We're Not Naive!" Mika Brzezinski Ridicules Admiral's Assertion that Attacked Sailors Could Carry on Drug Running 'Mission'

Morning Joe host Mika Brzezinski expressed disbelief at the claim that suspected drug smugglers, who survived a Pentagon strike on September 2, could have continued their mission while clinging to their damaged vessel. She sarcastically questioned whether the sailors were Olympic-level swimmers capable of salvaging the drugs from the wreck.

The comments followed closed-door briefings on Capitol Hill, where Admiral Frank Mitch Bradley, head of Joint Special Operations Command, spoke with lawmakers about the incident. Some attendees speculated that the sailors might have been attempting to retrieve the drugs after the initial strike, though opinions varied on the video evidence.

On Morning Joe, Brzezinski challenged the notion directly, emphasizing the severity of the situation. Were talking about potential war crimes here, she said while reviewing video footage of the strike. She questioned the plausibility that the two survivors could continue any drug operation so far from land.

She added with incredulity, Could they have paddled to shore with the rest of the drugs? Are we seriously considering that?

Panelist David Rohde explained that the boat had been split in two, leaving the front half floating without a motor and far from shore. Brzezinski interjected with sarcasm, asking, What are the chances these were Olympians who could swim to shore with the drugs on their backs?

Rohde confirmed that such a scenario was extremely unlikely. He clarified that earlier claims suggesting the sailors had functioning radios and nearby assistance were inaccurate. The briefing confirmed there were no communications and no other vessels nearby, indicating the survivors were focused solely on saving themselves rather than continuing any criminal operation.

Rohde concluded, Theyre not fighting, theyre not combatants, and theyre not attacking American forces. This was about survival, not a continuation of drug smuggling.
