The Club wishes to inform Celtic supporters that the suspension of the Green Brigade has been prolonged. This decision follows safety concerns linked to the group, including direct threats towards the Clubs Head of Safety and Security Operations, which have affected security in the rail seating area. The suspension will continue until the Club is confident that the Green Brigade will participate in the safe management of the stadium, which is essential for the operation of the rail seating section.
Recent events, including Safety Advisory Group meetings of Glasgow City Council, most recently on Friday, 28 November, have left the Club with no choice but to:
- Close the first six rows of the front section of the rail seating area at Celtic Park.
- Suspend the Green Brigades season tickets and access to both home and away match tickets.
The closure and suspension will remain until the Club is satisfied that the Green Brigade can comply with safety procedures and operational plans for the rail seating section, as assessed through recent risk evaluations.
The measures are in response to the following incidents:
- At the match against Falkirk FC, approximately 100 members of the Green Brigade, many concealing their identities, left the rail seating section and acted in a violent, threatening, and intimidating manner.
- The Green Brigade did not follow the suspension imposed after that event and attended the home match against Kilmarnock FC.
- A Safety Advisory Group meeting was convened regarding the groups conduct, but the Green Brigade did not confirm prior compliance with the suspension or the Clubs safety regulations for the rail seating section.
- Two members, who usually represent the group in safety meetings, threatened the Clubs Head of Safety & Security Operations before the AGM.
The safe management of the rail seating section requires supporter cooperation in following all relevant regulations and codes of conduct. The Club is asking the Green Brigade only to comply with these safety procedures designed to protect all supporters. Due to the groups behavior, including threats to staff, the Club is not assured that they will engage appropriately with safety measures at Celtic Park.
Following Safety Advisory Group meetings, the Club must report to the group after each home match regarding rail seating safety. Any attendance by the Green Brigade during the suspension will influence the Safety Advisory Groups review of Celtic Parks Safety Certificate, particularly concerning the rail seating area.
The Club remains willing to engage with the Green Brigade when possible but cannot accept violent or threatening conduct toward staff. This suspension is strictly related to safety and behavior issues and is unrelated to protests or banners.
