Luigi Mangione’s Friday Court Hearing Postponed Due to Illness

Luigi Mangione was unable to attend his scheduled court session on Friday because of illness, according to Judge Gregory Carro.

The 27-year-old is currently involved in hearings where he and his legal team are attempting to block key evidence in his murder case. Mangione faces a second-degree murder charge for the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last December.

The hearing, initially set for Friday, December 5, was postponed after Judge Carro announced from the bench around 9:45 a.m. that Mangione would not be present due to health reasons. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, declined to comment on the illness. The proceedings are now expected to resume on Monday morning, December 8.

Over the first three days of hearings, seven witnesses have testified, including prison guards who described extensive conversations with Mangione while he was in solitary confinement in Pennsylvania. Police officers involved in his arrest have also provided testimony. The court has reviewed a 911 call from McDonalds and police bodycam footage capturing Mangiones arrest while he was eating a meal, as well as subsequent interrogation videos.

Mangione has remained composed while watching the footage of his arrest, taking notes, and occasionally acknowledging supporters present in the courtroom. He has pleaded not guilty to both state and federal charges, the latter of which carries the possibility of the death penalty.
