ERP Seeks Matching Grant of $250,000 to Expand Anti-Poaching Air Wing

Elephants, Rhinos & People (ERP), a conservation nonprofit operating in Southern Africa, is seeking public support to expand its Air Wing, which uses a CubCrafters NXCub for aerial surveillance. The organization has set a goal of raising $250,000 by the end of February. If reached, Group Elephant, a global services and software company, will match the amount through a challenge grant.

"Achieving this target will significantly boost the ERP Air Wing and enhance protection for elephants and rhinos across Southern Africa," said Quintin Smith, ERP's director. "These species face critical threats, and aerial monitoring is an essential addition to ground-based conservation efforts."

All donations to ERP are allocated entirely to field projects. The nonprofit addresses poaching by implementing programs that also target poverty reduction in local communities. In July, at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, ERP received its first aircraft, the CubCrafters NXCub, which is now deployed to monitor vast conservation areas that are home to endangered desert-adapted elephants and black rhinos.

"The matching grant doubles the impact of contributions and provides essential resources for aerial surveillance and wildlife tracking in Namibia," stated Tom Haines, ERP Air Wing project leader.

Smith highlighted the increasing need for regular air patrols along Namibian wildlife corridors. "We are calling on aviation enthusiasts and conservation supporters to contribute before February 28, 2026, to help secure Group Elephant's $250,000 match," he added. "Your support will create a strong, lasting defense for endangered species."

Donations can be made directly through the ERP website.
