Hamas transfers additional human remains to Red Cross in Gaza Strip

Hamas has delivered another set of human remains to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the Gaza Strip. According to the Israeli military, ICRC staff are transporting the coffin to Israeli authorities for identification.

If confirmed as a hostage, this would mean that one more individual abducted from Israel remains in Gaza. The bodys identity will be verified at a forensic facility in Tel Aviv.

Previously, there have been instances where Hamas handed over remains that did not belong to currently missing hostages.

The exchange of bodies is part of the ceasefire agreement reached in October between Israel and Hamas. The terms stipulate that Israel will return the bodies of 15 deceased Gaza residents for each Israeli hostages remains handed over.

Armed members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Palestine delivered the body retrieved from Beit Lahia to Red Cross personnel, who then transferred it to Israel for identification.
