'It Was Her Time': Authorities Claim Mother Made Eerie Remark Following Baby's Death from Malnutrition and Dehydration

A Utah couple has been taken into custody months after the death of their 18-month-old daughter, who investigators say suffered from extreme dehydration and malnutrition.

Mitchell and Carrie Murray of Nibley were detained on suspicion of aggravated murder and aggravated child abuse. Authorities have not confirmed whether formal charges have been filed.

Their daughter, Ruby, was found dead in her crib in March. According to the affidavit, several sippy cups and waffles were discovered beside her. Carrie allegedly told investigators that they did not eat meals at a table and that Ruby preferred eating alone in her crib.

Medical findings indicated that Ruby died due to dehydration and malnutrition. The couple reportedly stated that she was fed three times daily with snacks, and that she had baby food only once or twice in her life.

Footage from the baby monitor allegedly showed Ruby was removed from her crib for a total of six hours over four days and was with another person for less than an hour during that time. Carrie also reportedly admitted she had not checked the monitor in months.

When questioned about Rubys death, Carrie allegedly responded that it was her time.
