Miraculous Survival of Deaf Woman After Aircraft Crashes Into Her While Walking Her Dog

A woman who is deaf narrowly escaped serious injury after a small aircraft crashed near her while she was walking her dog on a soccer field in Long Beach, California.

Tiffany Harrison, in her 40s, was unable to hear the approaching experimental two-seater plane, preventing her from moving out of its path in time. Her partner, Veronica Barrera, was in a nearby parking lot and witnessed the plane coming toward Tiffany.

My heart sank, Veronica recalled. The plane struck her almost instantly.

The pilot, a man in his 60s, reported via radio that his engine had failed and he attempted an emergency landing in the open field. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, treating Tiffany while firefighters assisted the pilot out of the aircraft. Both were taken to the hospital for care.

Tiffany sustained a fractured spine, a broken pelvis, and a deep leg laceration that required surgery. Her sister, Brittany McFall, mentioned that Tiffany also needed two blood transfusions due to the injury. Remarkably, her dog remained unharmed, and the pilot survived without life-threatening injuries.

Hearing that she was hit by a plane felt surrealits not something you ever expect, Brittany said. Its almost unbelievable.

Experts note that Tiffany may face post-traumatic stress following the incident, as such an accident is extremely rare and highly traumatic.
