Putin in discussions with US representatives at Kremlin regarding Ukraine peace proposal

Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding discussions in Moscow with US envoy Steve Witkoff and former White House adviser and Donald Trumps son-in-law, Jared Kushner, regarding a proposed peace plan for Ukraine.

Earlier, Putin criticized Europe's calls for an immediate end to the conflict in Ukraine, describing them as unacceptable. He added in a statement, We are not seeking confrontation with Europe, but if Europe chooses conflict, we are prepared immediately.

Putin has shown minimal willingness to compromise, asserting confidence in Russia's advances on the battlefield, according to Steve Rosenberg, our Russia correspondent.

Meanwhile, during a visit to Ireland, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky remarked that certain elements of the peace plan still need refinement, but emphasized that now more than ever, there is an opportunity to bring this war to an end.

Ukraines military reports that combat continues in the strategic eastern city of Pokrovsk, despite Kremlin claims that its forces have captured the location.

The talks at the Kremlin mark a significant moment in efforts to advance the Ukraine peace plan.
