South African Airways Signs Codeshare Agreement with Angola's TAAG

South African Airways has entered into a codeshare arrangement with TAAG Angola Airlines to boost both regional and long-haul connectivity. This collaboration enhances the route networks of the two carriers, establishing Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Luanda as central hubs for travel throughout Africa and beyond.

The agreement also provides travelers from South Africa with easier access to destinations in Portugal and Brazil.

Under the partnership, South African Airways will place its flight code on TAAG-operated services between Johannesburg and Cape Town to Luanda, as well as on TAAG flights from Luanda to Lisbon and So Paulo. Conversely, TAAG will have the opportunity to serve key cities within South African Airways network, including Durban, Gqeberha, Cape Town, Harare, and Lusaka.

This alliance represents a major advancement for aviation in Africa, enhancing connectivity across the continent and offering new options for both business and leisure travelers, said John Lamola, CEO of South African Airways Group. Working with TAAG allows us to extend our reach, improve the travel experience, and open important commercial opportunities.

The codeshare deal enables both airlines to jointly market and sell tickets, providing passengers with a wider range of destinations, the ability to book with a single ticket in their local currency, and smoother transfers with integrated check-in and baggage handling.
