Thousands of residents in Kent and East Sussex continue to experience a lack of water for a fifth consecutive day. Around 24,000 households remain affected by the ongoing disruption.
South East Water (SEW) had previously managed to restore water to many homes, but a problem at one of their treatment facilities caused supplies to fail again. The company has confirmed the disruption is linked to a "water quality issue."
SEW has issued a public apology and is actively working to bring the water supply back. Authorities have issued a strict advisory: residents should not drink the water unless it has been boiled for at least 10 minutes.
The utility company assures that efforts are underway to fully resolve the situation and restore safe drinking water as quickly as possible.
