The Wikimedia Foundation, which manages Wikipedia, has revealed its annual ranking of the most-visited articles. Topping the 2025 list of English-language pages is the profile of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which drew nearly 45 million views over the year.
Kirks article saw a dramatic spike in traffic following his death on September 10, when he was shot at a university campus. The page recorded 15 million views the day after the incident alone, averaging more than 170 visits per second. According to Wikimedia data, over 40% of the articles traffic came from international readers.
The second-most viewed entry is a recurring feature in the yearly lists: Deaths in 2025, documenting notable figures who passed away, with 42.5 million views. Ed Gein, the infamous serial killer, claimed the third spot, partly fueled by renewed interest from Netflixs true crime anthology series Monster, which highlighted him in its third season. Former President Donald Trumps page ranked fourth with 25.1 million views, marking his eighth appearance on the annual ranking, while Pope Leo XIV, the first US-born pope, completed the top five.
Other articles in the top ten include NYC mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani, the late musician Ozzy Osbourne, and several cinema-related entries such as Ryan Cooglers vampire horror film Sinners and James Gunns Superman. The list also featured entertainment stories including Quentin Tarantinos critiques, Drew Barrymores comments on working with Adam Sandler, and Glenn Close reflecting on her Oscar-nominated film performances.
Analysis of the Top 20 indicates that US politics significantly influenced readership, with political topics representing roughly a quarter of the most-viewed entries. Popular film and celebrity stories also drew substantial attention.
Additional highlights from the 2025 list include:
- The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025 film) 10.8 million views
- Wikipedias 25th anniversary, which will be celebrated on January 15, 2026
