Comedy Gives Back Launches Year-End Giving Campaign for Very Good Person

Comedy Gives Back, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the comedy community, has introduced a new yearly initiative called the Very Good Person Year-End Giving Campaign. The campaign is designed to provide additional resources for comedians facing financial, physical, or mental health challenges.

All contributions to this campaign will directly fund Comedy Gives Backs programs, which include therapy grants, financial aid, recovery meetings, and educational workshops. These initiatives aim to ensure that comedians at every stage of their careers have access to the help they need to continue performing.

Addressing the inspiration behind the campaigns name, co-founder Amber J. Lawson explained, A very good person is anyone who believes comedians should have a support system similar to musicians and actors. Every donation helps keep comedians performing and prevents crises.

Zoe Friedman, Executive Director and co-founder, added, While the public knows stars like Kevin Hart and Bert Kreischer, there are countless working comedians who remain unseen, tirelessly bringing laughter to audiences. Comedy Gives Back is here to support those artists.

Co-founder Jodi Lieberman emphasized, Asking for help is difficult, and even more so for comedians who are expected to appear fine. Our organization ensures no comic ever has to struggle in silence.

Since 2019, Comedy Gives Back has awarded over $1 million to more than 1,000 comedians experiencing hardships. The organization has also hosted recovery meetings at major comedy festivals, sponsored mental health services, and funded residential treatment for chemical dependency.

Recently, during an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show in the What Im Liking segment, Friedman received $1,000 to contribute to the campaign, further supporting its mission.
