Recall of Dog Food in 14 States due to Plastic Pieces that Pose a Threat to Pets

Pet owners are urged to inspect their recent dog food purchases after a recall was issued for 300 cases of Bonnihill Farms cooked frozen dog food. Fromm Family Foods initiated the voluntary recall on December 3 following complaints from dog owners about plastic pieces found in the food.

As of the recall announcement, there have been no reported injuries or illnesses, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). However, the company advises pet owners to watch for signs of plastic ingestion, which may include vomiting, decreased appetite, lethargy, or stomach discomfort. Consuming larger amounts of plastic could lead to serious intestinal blockages, which can be life-threatening. Pet owners should contact a veterinarian immediately if any symptoms of gastrointestinal distress appear.

In its recall statement, Fromm confirmed it had identified the problem and implemented additional safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
